What is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage?
CleanMarket lymphatic drainage sessions are 60 minutes, performed by a licensed massage therapist trained in manual lymphatic drainage.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a specialized, gentle massage technique designed to stimulate the movement of lymph fluid through the body's lymphatic system. Unlike deep-tissue or Swedish massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses light, rhythmic strokes applied in specific sequences along the skin's surface to manually move lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes, where it can be filtered and recirculated.
The lymphatic system doesn't have a pump the way the cardiovascular system has the heart. It relies on muscle movement, breathing, and manual stimulation to keep fluid flowing. When lymph becomes sluggish — due to illness, surgery, a sedentary lifestyle, or inflammation — fluid can accumulate in tissues, causing puffiness, heaviness, and fatigue. Lymphatic Drainage Massage directly addresses this.
What's different about Lymphatic Drainage Massage at Clean Market?
Our Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses a signature method that incorporates Swedish Massage strokes, classic Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), myofascial release, vibration, cupping, Gua Sha, and stretching. Each session is personalized and varies depending on your needs, but the intent always is to aid lymphatic drainage and overall well-being.
A certified Lymphatic Massage Therapist will use very light pressure and gentle, wave-like movements across your neck, abdomen, arms, and legs, following the anatomical path of your lymphatic vessels. Sessions typically begin at the neck, where the primary lymphatic ducts drain, before working down through the body. You'll feel a gentle pumping and stretching sensation on the skin; notably different from conventional massage. Most clients feel deeply relaxed during and immediately after a session, and many report reduced puffiness and a lighter feeling within 24 hours.

TYPES OF LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE
Signature Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Our Signature service is a 60- or 90-minute therapeutic treatment that blends various lymphatic therapies. Our technique incorporates a blend of traditional Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Swedish Massage which includes gentle fascia release, dynamic cupping, dry brushing, and stretching. Clients can choose between Magnesium Lotion, Hemp-derived Lotion, or Muscle Rub to use during the treatment and will be able to take home the dry brush used in the session. Each session is personalized and varies depending on the client's needs, but the intent is always to aid lymphatic drainage and overall well-being. If you are a Prenatal or Post-Op client, you must book that specific treatment.
Sculpting Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Our Sculpting service is a 60- or 90-minute body contouring and skin toning treatment. This service incorporates more vigorous massage techniques to sculpt targeted areas of the body. Our approach utilizes specially designed wooden tools to enhance the effects of the treatment including sculpting rollers, cups, paddles, and a body Gua Sha stone. The session is completed with a divinely scented sculpting oil. Our 60-Min Sculpting Lymphatic Drainage Massage allows the therapist to focus on up to three desired areas whereas the 90-Min allows the therapist to focus on three to four areas.
Post-Op Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Our Post-Op treatment is a 60- or 90-min service provided by our team of certified lymphatic massage therapists specially trained in caring for your unique needs during the healing process after surgery. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a highly therapeutic and personalized treatment designed to decrease inflammation, reduce pain & swelling, and support your body post-surgery. Various therapeutic lotions may be used in the treatment to address pain, or bruising, including Arnica and Magnesium. Each session varies depending on the client's needs, but the intent is always to aid lymphatic drainage, encourage faster healing, and aid in overall relaxation and well-being. It is highly recommended to receive at least two post-op treatments weekly during the first month after surgery to help accelerate healing time and decrease pain and swelling. Please contact us to confirm eligibility and medical clearance prior to booking.
Prenatal Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Our Prenatal service is available in both 60- or 90- min treatment sessions, and is a gentle & therapeutic treatment designed for moms after their third trimester. Incorporating traditional Swedish Massage strokes, body Gua Sha, and Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage, this treatment is tailored to your body's unique needs during this time, helping to reduce swelling, relieve muscle cramps, and encourage overall relaxation. Optional Magnesium Lotion is available during your treatment to help relieve muscle soreness, swelling, pain, and to promote relaxation. No cupping is used in this service. Each session varies depending on the client's needs, but the intent is always to aid lymphatic drainage and overall well-being. It is recommended to return frequently once experiencing chronic swelling and pain as you reach your last trimester to help alleviate symptoms.
Hot Synergy Stone™ Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Our Hot Synergy Stone™ service is a 60- or 90-minute treatment for those looking to combat high stress and require total relaxation. Different from the traditional hot stone massage, Synergy Stones combines hot stone relaxation with therapeutic lymphatic drainage results for a deeply relaxing experience that blends heat, custom pressure, and advanced techniques into a calming session. The tool also allows for greater pressure to be applied, making it an excellent alternative to deep tissue massage. This massage decreases stress, relieves muscle pain and tension, encourages blood and lymph circulation, stimulates the immune system, and calms the mind & body overall. Your session comes with a choice of one of our pain-relieving lotions (Magnesium, Hemp-derived, Muscle Rub).

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE SESSION
Before your session:
Arrive well-hydrated — lymphatic drainage works best when your body has adequate fluid. Avoid eating a heavy meal in the hour before.
During your session:
Sessions begin with a brief intake — your Lymphatic Massage Therapist will ask about your goals, any recent surgeries, current health conditions, and areas of concern. The massage itself is performed on a treatment table. You'll notice the pressure is much lighter than most massages you've had before; this is intentional. The lymphatic capillaries sit just beneath the skin's surface, and deep pressure would compress rather than stimulate them. Expect slow, rhythmic strokes across the neck, collarbones, abdomen, and extremities. Most clients drift into a deep state of relaxation.
After your session:
You may notice increased urination in the 24 hours following your session. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and heavy sodium for the remainder of the day. Some clients experience mild fatigue immediately after, which typically resolves with rest and hydration. The visible effects — reduced puffiness, lighter feeling in the legs, more defined facial contour — are usually noticeable within 12–24 hours.

A Clean Market Signature Lymphatic Drainage Massage session is 60- or 90-minutes including a brief intake with the licensed massage therapist.
Lymphatic drainage performed by a licensed massage therapist trained in manual lymphatic drainage technique is generally well-tolerated by most clients. Sessions take place in a private treatment room. Certain conditions are contraindicated — you can always call 888-320-1699 to speak with the team — and post-surgical clients should consult their provider first.
No referral is required for most clients. Post-surgical clients (post-liposuction, post-mastectomy, post-cosmetic) should bring documentation of medical clearance.
Lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic, directional pressure designed specifically to support lymphatic flow. Regular massage (Swedish, deep tissue, sports) targets muscles and connective tissue with broader, deeper strokes. Lymphatic drainage typically feels much gentler. Both have value — they address different physiological systems.
Frequency depends on your goals. Clients using lymphatic drainage for post-travel recovery often book once or twice per month. Post-surgical clients may book weekly during the early recovery window per their doctor's guidance. As part of an ongoing wellness routine, every 2 to 4 weeks is common. Our team will recommend a cadence at your first session.
